To Kill or Not to Kill Croc's....
July 15th 2008 20:12
This is the question?? I am an animal lover myself and I know that many of you out there are the same. But, I am also a fashion and design lover also. So you have to understand this question above. Reason meaning, we often kill crocodiles and alligators and other exotic animals, why, so that we may, nothing else but wear them. Understandable, but this has caused many issues between animal rights groups and others.
I’ve been considering if the wearing of crocodile skin is ethical or not, moral or not, I haven’t really came to a conclusion. The jury is still out in my brain. I do believe in ultimate fairness, so I do hear both sides of an equation, before making my judgment. After hearing both sides, I believe that both sides have very valid arguments and I understand both of their arguments. Does this endanger our environment or planet, probably not, but if you look at the fact of it endangering our animals, such as the crocodile or alligator’s, possibly yes. We do have precious animals and accessories (lol) here on planet earth that are entrusted to our care and responsibility. If these crocodiles and other animals are not taken care of by us, then who. We humans do run the earth, if you haven’t known.
Now, will I stop wearing crocodile or alligator shoes? Probably not. Will I stop wearing exotic fur coats and the like? Probably not. Fashion is just that, fashion and the environment is just that. Hopefully, one day, we as human beings, can think of a way to mix the two without damaging either.
