Slumdog Fashion on the rise...

April 10th 2009 15:41
After the debut of the Slumdog Millionnaire movie, Bolly fashion has been one of the crazes on the rise in the entertainment and fashion industry. The movie debuted a wide variety of beautiful and unique bolly fashion. With tones of deep orange, blues and green's, the fashion industry has welcomed it's style. But I do wonder(of course), why it's called Bolly and why it's entertainment elite is called Bollywood? Maybe you guys can help me out, if you know, please comment and teach me a thing or two And also, why call it Bollywood? Maybe after Hollywood? Probably right! Well, I totally understand the pun on it's actors and Hollywood, but I am lost pertaining to the bollyness of it.

I like this piece, it kinda reminds ya of Aladdin. Highly sexy and princessisy(if that's a word). The world has totally embraced their fashion culture, which is rich in detail and embellishment. When I refer to their, I'm speaking of the Arabic world, including India, etc.

This is one of my favorite bolly fashion pieces. I love the rich color and the design. It's not something that I would wear everyday, but it's definately something that I would love to have in my closet, that I can bring out for a special event or occasion. It will definately make a huge fashion statement.

I really like the first piece, though it's not something that I may wear to work, but it's something you I would wear out with friends, I call this a 'speechless' piece!
The second is something that you might catch me in at the job, though, it's a little too plain for me. I definately would change the accessories to liven it up a lttle bit, but to me, its a fashion hit! I think this trend will not be around for too long, as in others, but I do believe that the best of Bolly fashion is yet to come!

Calvin Klein bore's in 09

April 9th 2009 14:39
When you hear the name 'Calvin Klein', you remember. You remember the trademark iconic jeans everyone use to wear in the 80's and 90's, and if you're a seasoned person, even the 70's. Calvin Klein is a matriarch of American fashion. Founded in 1968, CK has had a lot of different head designers in charge of making a statement with the brand Calvin Klein or CK. Since it's creation, they've expanded to not only making coats, jeans, couture, ready to wear and beauty(fragrance), but also handbags and accessories. They normally bring a sort of classic American look blended with couture and specialty.

Because I love what Calvin Klein stands for(and I love the way their jeans fit me), I try to keep up with their new fashion, designs and spreads. After viewing their RTW(Ready To Wear) Fall 2009 Runway fashions, I have to say I basically fell asleep at my computer.BORING! Believe me, I know that there is an appointed amount of boredom when viewing a runway line but I really did expect a little more from Calvin Klein's line. I feel it was mediocre. Mostly earthen tones and colors, such as white, tan, cream and black, it was a bit dead. Color is what brings fashion to life. A great mixture of color actually. I like earth tone's but I believe that CK should have added a little more color and a more diverse design line. See my pics....

Most of you probably already know that this design is a up and coming trend amongst the design scene. Similar to box shaping around the hips, it pioneers a futuristic feel, remember the Jetsons Many stars has worn this look, i.e. Victoria Beckham.

This look was my favorite design from the Calvin Klein RTW line. A comfortable, loose, free, fitting dress. It's something that all of us would wear any day of the week. I believe these two were the most trend setting designs of the entire line. Below, I've selected a few more designs from the Calvin Klein rtw 09 line......

Mostly all of the rest of the entire line resembled the above 2 designs, but some were in white, tan or cream. Boring! I need to see a more diverse design line. I need options. But regardless of CK missing the mark entirely, he is still one of my fav's.

Michelle Obama---gotta love her! Being that she and her husband Barak Obama, are the first African American president America has seen. Her style and fashion supercedes most in politics, making her a role model and fashion diva, many has come to fashion after.
I'm not sure if she measure's up to all of the hype mentioned in fashion though. I do truely love her style, classic, colorful, taylored, etc, but does she truely have what it takes to become one of the most fashionable diva's in our modern history.

YOU BETCHA! Many of you might highly differ with me but you have to check her fashion record sweety Mostly, not everything, she wears hits the fashion currency mark exactly. (I would be lieing if I stating that I liked or have loved everything that she's wore) Nevertheless, we can't always get it right all of the time. Michelle Obama has truely inspired me personally as the rest of the world with her class and swagger.

I am a AA woman in American and I believe that she represents my culture well. Her husband Barak Obama has truely found someone worthy enough, fashion and style wise, to be called 'First Lady' of the United States of America. I do believe that we will be talking about her keen since of style, dress, clothing and fashion for many years to come. The pics below shows her beautiful ensemble worn to visit the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth herself at Windsor Palace during the G-20 Summit. Michelle visited children, schools, bought alms and gifts, everything that dignitary in her spot light would do. Of couse she had mockers, in regards to her 'touching the queen'. You have to understand that we 'Americans' are pure 'down home folks' especially African Americans. We are outgoing and no one is a stranger that crosses our paths.

I would love to meet Michelle Obama, talk to her, possibly sip green tea and talk and share idea's on how to raise our children and be the best wives that we can be. Not to mention she is, in my opinion, a great bargain shopper(J.Crew, etc.) Now this woman could be buying the most exquisite of worldwide fashions, and the most expensive, but she and her husband chooses to support our designers and american made clothing. KUDDO's!!

London and Queen Elizabeth never knew what hit them when Air Force one landed on their patch of the world. Hopefully, Michele did not mess up too bad and Queen Elizabeth welcome's her back soon!
