Fashion Week spook of dead silence?

April 28th 2009 01:40
Monday April 27 kicked off Sydney Australia's fashion week and I must say that it stepped out with a big 'BANG', literally. You've probably already heard of the big "black out", darkness, etc. that occurred at Fashion Week. Apparently, all lights went out during the event. I've seen so many fashion news articles about Sydney's fashion week, very few about the actual fashions though. The black out has toppled the reason for fashion week in the media. It definitely outshined the gorgeous models in their gorgeous couture, rtw and swim wear.

Great example above! What I wouldn't give to have a tummy like that again. Australia's hottest in premier designers stepped out to strut their fashion stuff at fashion week. One of their premier designers, Camilla and Marc was a show stopping, breath taking duo. Mostly showcasing layer's and cuts, Camila and Marc is rapidly building their brand into a recognizable, eye popping line, not just in Australia but around the fashion world.

This picture is picture from backstage at the event. Who knew modeling was so much fun(like everyone).

The Death of Michael Jacobs

April 20th 2009 23:50

I am asking all of my sister's, brother's in Christ and every citizen, to please pray for our countries' leadership, including the nationwide police departments. While driving, I heard a very disappointing story released on a local gospel music station. Michael Jacobs, a mentally ill young men who lived in Ft. Worth, TX, recently died at the hands of what is suspected to be excessive police abuse/force. He lived w/his parents. He had been diagnosed as being Bipolar. Bipolar is an emotional condition, where it's patients find it difficult to control their emotions, which are often unbalanced. On this particular occasion, Michael was unruly and raging with his parents, who then called Welfare and police seeking help for her son, hoping that they would send a medic or ambulance who would then take him to a local mental facility, which in turn would hopefully provide him medication or mental help to calm his raging.

The ambulance and Ft.Worth PD both arrived. The police knew that this young man was mentally unstable, but in turn sent the medic away. After that, they proceeding to wrestle with him, no handcuffs were placed, Mind you, he was 5 foot 5 and weight 140 lbs. It's also noted that 4 to 5 police officers were present. I'm guessing that they were not able to subdue him(hmm.) They proceeding to taze him 4 or more times. After his mom shouted, 'please stop your killing my baby', one of the officers stepped forward towards her, while touching his gun, stating, 'please step back ma'm.' He laid there, not breathing. A medic was still not called until after Michael's father stated that 'I think he's not breathing'. By the time that the medic returned, he was dead. A investigation is currently being done. The Ft.Worth police has yet to send any rep to the Jacob's family to apologize or anything. Everything is seeming to be on the hush-hush.

My prayer is for this family, that the lord will heal them of their pain through their mourning. I could only imagine, witnessing the death of my young son in such as manner.

Also, my prayer is that the Ft. Worth police department and city council is made more accountable for treatment of potential detanee's and of it's citizens. My prayer is also that the officer's implicated is convicted and issue public apologies to this family. Also, that they receive counseling. Many citizens of the Black community of Ft. Worth is calling for the resignation of the police implicated. My prayer is that the will of the Father is completed. A similar situation happened in Westington, a Upper class, white community of Ft. Worth and the Ft. Worth pd handled it much different than they are handling it with Michael Jacob and his family. Racism is still in America. We have a black president, but there is still racism present, and sad to say, its in our law enforcement. I pray that this country will come to a point, bridge, where each citizen is actually treated equally.

God Bless

Slumdog Fashion on the rise...

April 10th 2009 15:41
After the debut of the Slumdog Millionnaire movie, Bolly fashion has been one of the crazes on the rise in the entertainment and fashion industry. The movie debuted a wide variety of beautiful and unique bolly fashion. With tones of deep orange, blues and green's, the fashion industry has welcomed it's style. But I do wonder(of course), why it's called Bolly and why it's entertainment elite is called Bollywood? Maybe you guys can help me out, if you know, please comment and teach me a thing or two And also, why call it Bollywood? Maybe after Hollywood? Probably right! Well, I totally understand the pun on it's actors and Hollywood, but I am lost pertaining to the bollyness of it.

I like this piece, it kinda reminds ya of Aladdin. Highly sexy and princessisy(if that's a word). The world has totally embraced their fashion culture, which is rich in detail and embellishment. When I refer to their, I'm speaking of the Arabic world, including India, etc.

This is one of my favorite bolly fashion pieces. I love the rich color and the design. It's not something that I would wear everyday, but it's definately something that I would love to have in my closet, that I can bring out for a special event or occasion. It will definately make a huge fashion statement.

I really like the first piece, though it's not something that I may wear to work, but it's something you I would wear out with friends, I call this a 'speechless' piece!
The second is something that you might catch me in at the job, though, it's a little too plain for me. I definately would change the accessories to liven it up a lttle bit, but to me, its a fashion hit! I think this trend will not be around for too long, as in others, but I do believe that the best of Bolly fashion is yet to come!

I love fashion but I believe that there is some glitches in it's communication with us, normal folks. Don't want to be too deep or anything, but I will be reveiling my top ten thoughts as to what I do NOT like about some things. Each day, I will reveal a new one. Today, I am reveiling number 10:

10. I hate that some trends don't last long enough!

Naomi Campell screams

April 5th 2009 19:42
Being a fashion queen that's been in the modeling game for I don't know, 2 decades, Naomi Campbell has came together with Tyson Beckford and Liya Kebede. They've joined forces to make worldwide awareness of racism in the fashion/modeling world. When I first read an article on this, I thought to myself, "hmm....actually, racism is still so everywhere!!" Not to say that we hav not came a long way as a nation and country. We have came universes away from the time of Dr. Martin Luther King. But we have still got a long way to go. I can say this not by being a bystander only, but because I am young and black in America. My name is a black cultured name. I've been discrimated against many times, I believe, while applying for jobs. So I totally understand where Naomi Campbell is coming from. I don't believe that most of my experienced racism was made consciously.

Michelle Obama---gotta love her! Being that she and her husband Barak Obama, are the first African American president America has seen. Her style and fashion supercedes most in politics, making her a role model and fashion diva, many has come to fashion after.
I'm not sure if she measure's up to all of the hype mentioned in fashion though. I do truely love her style, classic, colorful, taylored, etc, but does she truely have what it takes to become one of the most fashionable diva's in our modern history.

Good, ole wholesome, Coach, an inspired line for the common man, I might add. Love Coach purses/handbags and accessories. One of the best thing about designer is quality. Not taking anything away from non-designer items, but unfortunately, with designer comes quality and luxury. Because of the extremely high quality in the making of Coach handbags, then tend to last their owners for years and years.

You won't see any color fade on this handbag, only great quality and service. A handbag is a girls life. Have you ever heard the saying, maybe from one of your friends or relatives, stating, 'Do you carry you whole life in that bag", if not, I've heard it a number of times. I normally like all different types of handbags and my handbags have their own little closet store room in my house. Coach handbags is a definate must have in your accessory closet space. Also, to enhance your Coach handbag, you have to also pick up a couple of Coach accessories, such as their belts, key chains and more. Coach handbags is probably on the same level of Gucci handbags, well, take that back. Gucci is in a class of their own, but trust me when I say, Coach handbags is fighting or should I say competing with Gucci handbags

To Kill or Not to Kill Croc's....

July 15th 2008 20:12
This is the question?? I am an animal lover myself and I know that many of you out there are the same. But, I am also a fashion and design lover also. So you have to understand this question above. Reason meaning, we often kill crocodiles and alligators and other exotic animals, why, so that we may, nothing else but wear them. Understandable, but this has caused many issues between animal rights groups and others.

Can everyone have her 'Goodies'?

July 6th 2008 04:54
Singer Ciara, we all know her, "Tha Goodie's Girl" (lol). Well, it seem's, she's stepping out into mainstream stardom even more so nowadays. It's reported that she's signed a modeling contract with agency Wilhelmina, a prominant-upscale agency. She's also looking into launching her own clothing line via Steve and Barry's. Steve and Barry's is great store, with trendy items at great low prices. Great look Ciara! Steve and Barry's also carrie's Sarah Jessica Parker's line "Bitten" and Stephen Marbury's line "Marberry".

I ask this question today because nearly every young child strive's to be like Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton or Rhianna, if you get my drift. Stardom and fame are their goals to try to attain. Reason being, popularity, gold, glitz, power, money, fame, red carpets, etc. It's nothing wrong with dreaming or desiring to be successful and comfortable, but at what cost I ask? Often, there is a great cost to be paid. Cost such as paparazzi, tabloids, disfunctional love life, open book life, fake wanna be friends, not knowing who your true friends are, snakes in suits(exec's that is), inconsistant career high's.

Many young men and women are willing to risk these parts of their intimate life just for a glimpse of stardom, the adorement by others and prestige, yada yada. This is a major issue because 20 year old Russian model, Ruslana Korshunova, committed suicide last Saturday. She plundged to her death from her New York apartment. Have you seen her? She had to have been one of the most beautiful fashion models of this time. She's modeled for line's such as Vera Wang, Chrisian Dior, Marc Jacobs and other's. People, her apartment was on the ninth floor. The police has investigated and has definately ruled it as a suicide, but no note was left by her

I've been asked a lot for opinion on what to wear and what not to wear this summer. We all wan't to be in fashion and in line with current Summer 08 trends, but we can do without the fashion mishaps or miscommunications. The definition of fashion miscommunication is wearing an ensemble or piece of fashion because you might have seen someone else wear it or 'do it' that way. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS PEOPLE!!!! So I've brainstormed my own personal list of Summer fashion do's and don'ts.

Do's:

The new RED Stick look

June 24th 2008 20:19
Do all of you remember the retro-60,70,80’s look? Madonna, Goldie Hawn and a few other’s use to sport this trendy look. Well, it quickly went out of style, with the turn of the decade: 90’s is here!!! I grew up in the 80’s and at the time, loved the style. But who doesn’t love and try to ride the trend tide in their decade? We all do.

The blue eye shadow, the poofy hair, the curly perms, the leather w/zipper jackets, the whole nine yards. You’ve probably seen that some aspect of this past trendy style is back and a big hit in Hollywood. Lipstick, especially. I personally, really use to hate RED lip color. I felt it made people look like vampires or zombies. But Hollywood has been incorporating the color red, very nicely, I must say, in movies and on celebrities. I like the new, up to date, red lip color, especially with the opaque face

Check my SHOE WORK!!

June 23rd 2008 23:30
I LOVE SHOES!! I think I may be totally obsessed with shoes. I REPEAT, I LOVE SHOES!! I really don’t know how many pair I currently have, but trust me it’s a LOT(LOL)! But what young woman doesn’t like shoes. All sorts of shoes. Shoes give me that tingly feeling on the inside, you know, that ooooohhhhhh, aaaaaahhhh, feeling. Let me stop. Everyone has something. A food fetish, a banana fetish, well I (and many of you) have SHOE fetishes. If I don’t have enough money to buy that “me” outfit, I will settle investing a great pair of manolo’s, pump’s, boots or hills. Anyday…..

I recently saw Sex in the City, the movie with Sarah Jessica Parker and oh baby the Shoe!!!!!! See, that’s what I love about chick flicks, though I don’t like all. But at least chick flicks cater to us, women. A great flick with display great style and fashion, something most of us respect and draw from. The main type of shoes displayed in the movie is the Jimmy Choo shoe. Jimmy Choo started around 10 years ago in a small town in England. Bet he never guessed his company would be so international and famous. A very smart, let me repeat, a VERY smart woman by the name of Tamara Mellon, knew of Mr. Choo’s tremendous success in her native, England and proposed a business gesture for him. Thankfully, he accepted and that propelled the Jimmy Choo company that we all know of today, WHOOPEE

We! We! Louis!

June 23rd 2008 23:04
Everyone probably already know’s what bag this is. You might even know who sports it, especially if you watch daytime TV. I love all handbags, especially fashionable ones such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Fendi. I would have to say that this might be one of my favorite bags of all time, actually coming from the most recognizable designer’s of all time.

Louis Vuitton and his French style has influenced and left a huge mark on the fashion industry, specifically handbags. So much so, Vuitton is also infiltrating the jewelry scene with a new jewelry line and more
